SO many people turned up to donate blood at a donor session held in Clitheroe, scores had to be turned away.
The centre, in the parish rooms, was jam-packed all day with people willing to donate a pint. Exhausted staff could not get through the queues of and good Samaritans had to asked to attend future sessions instead. The Blood Service said people in East Lancashire were known for their dedication to the cause.

A 37-year-old Accrington chauffeur was find £75 for driving down a busy road with a man clinging to the bonnet after an argument on a garage forecourt.
Magistrates clerk George Pratt said the scene was "like something from Starsky and Hutch". The man was found guilty of carrying a passenger in a dangerous manner.

A PARTY of 12 Blackburn schoolboys set off to Blackpool on foot. All but four of the youngsters from the Bangor Street School made it after trudging along the roadside for four-and-a-half hours. They were accompanied by games master George Kirby and a parent, Mr W H Connelly.
