WHEN reading Naseer Zaman's letter, I wondered which country he was living in. Certainly not mine!

Take away our right to speak and democracy is dead!

Suggesting that we look at situations around the world was an extremely patronising remark to make.

Anyone with a modicum of common sense is aware that foreign policies of many governments, including their own, are the cause for disquiet, disillusion and despair.

But events like 9/11, Georgia, Russia, suicide bombers and beheading of innocents on TV is hardly likely to elicit support for their cause.

I would suggest that promoting discussion rather than ensuring division would be a better way forward for all of us.
