PARISHIONERS from Holy Saviours Church, Nelson, got all dressed up to raise money for charity.

The fancy dress night at the Parish Centre was to support a calendar for charities Children in Need and the Catholic Children's Rescue Society.

It features members of the parish in ridiculous costumes and will come with a free CD, featuring Holy Saviour's Junior School's choir.

Father Michael Haworth said: "The calendar has been a wonderful idea and it has been great to get the school children involved. I hope it makes plenty of money for the charities."

The calendar, development for the past nine months, has involved a lot of effort from volunteers. It will go on sale in the next month priced of £6.99, with 5,000 copies published.

Its producer, Peter Ratcliffe, said: "The money made from the fancy dress night has now meant we can go ahead with the final production."
