POLICE are warning shoppers in Rawtenstall to be on their guard after two women had their purses snatched.
The victims, one aged 20, the other an elderly woman, were in a charity shop in Bank Street at about 2pm on Thursday when the purses were stolen from their shoulder bags.
Thieves got away with around £300.
The offenders are believed to be two women who left the shop hurriedly.
One is 40 to 50 years old, 5ft 8in tall, with black shoulder-length hair, and was wearing a dark anorak and carrying a white plastic bag.
The other is 5ft 5in tall, with short black hair. She was wearing a dark coat.
Brent Fielden, Pennine Police street crime and robbery co-ordinator, said: "I would urge people to keep an eye on their belongings and be aware of anyone acting suspiciously around them."
