NEW job opportunities are on the horizon in Rossendale with the completion of the second phase of Bacup's £2.8million offices complex.

Units at Futures Park were officially launched by the Mayor of Rossendale, Councillor June Forshaw.

They will provide an opportunity for small and medium sized business to rent affordable, modern, office space.

The launch also marked the start of work on three more plots.

The landmark development has been branded one of the most ambitious business building projects seen in East Lancashire for years.

Owned by Rossendale Borough Council and managed by Kingfisher, the main attraction of the development is its easy access to the motorway network and, unlike a city centre complex, it comes with the benefit of parking space and wonderful views.

Rossendale Council leader Peter Steen, said: "There has already been a keen interest in the remaining sites on Futures Park.

"We have shown what can be achieved by working in partnership and aim to attract vibrant businesses and new jobs to Rossendale on these sites. This is another illustration that Rossendale is open for business.

Futures Park is a partnership between Kingfisher, who manage the complex, Rossendale Borough Council, and funding partners such as the North West Development Agency and the European Regional Development Fund, with private sector developers Eric Wright Construction.

Ian Whittaker, NWDA area manager for Lancashire said: "This project is a catalyst for the future of Economic Regeneration of Rossendale and is evidence of the areas increasing attraction as an excellent place to start and grow a business.
