ACCRINGTON vicar Kevin Logan said children were being "drip-fed" the occult in his new book on the rise of satanism in Britain. Mr Logan, vicar of Christ Church, accused Christians of being "lily-livered, weak-kneed and totally ineffective" because they would rather fight "flesh and blood" battles than take on the powers of darkness. Mr Logan estimated there were 10,000 satanists living in the UK in his book Satan and the Occult.

DOZENS of children had a narrow escape after a lorry hit a bridge, overturned, and ploughed into a footpath in Langho, minutes before they reached it. Driver William Hopkins, 30, of Cleveleys Road, Blackburn, received only a cut to the face despite his cab being wrecked. The crash happened at 8.20am in Whalley Road, where many children walk on their way to St Mary's and St Leonard's schools.

OLD people were suffering because they were too proud to ask for help, according to Mayor of Rawtenstall Alderman A Halliday, who made the claim while addressing the annual old folk's treat organised by Edgeside Baptist Church, Waterfoot. He said although Rawtenstall Town Council was making its welfare service easier to use, residents needed to help identify their neighbours in need.
