ACCRINGTON Stanley defender Jonathan Smith reckons the Sky cameras are about to witness a Reds' revival.

John Coleman's side are desperate to get back to winning ways when Hereford United arrive at the Interlink Express Stadium tonight (7.45pm).

One point in four league games has seen Stanley slip off the pace in recent weeks.

But Smith feels a blood-and-thunder clash against fellow promotion rivals should provide exactly the incentive needed to end that sudden slump in form.

"It would be typical of us to put in a good performance in front of the cameras," said Smith.

"Hereford are a good club and they will fancy their chances of being in with a shout of promotion.

"But nobody should need any motivating for this game and I'm sure we will be up for it too.

"I don't know why it is, but we just can't seem to raise our game at the moment against some of the so-called lesser teams in the Conference.

"It started with a scrappy win over Leigh RMI, but the results have gone downhill ever since then and it's something we need to address.

"I don't think I'm speaking out of turn when I say that six or seven players owe the manager a performance.

"We have some terrific players and we started the season like a house on fire, but in the last four games we have taken our foot off the pedal."

Super-sub Smith has certainly provided Coleman with something to think about ahead of the battle with the Bulls.

The towering defender, who recently returned to Stanley following a loan spell with Barrow, rose from the bench to score his second goal of the season in last Tuesday's otherwise disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Tamworth.

And Smith intends to seize any more opportunities that come his way after rejecting the chance to quit Stanley for pastures new.

He added: "A few clubs were interested in signing me after the loan spell at Barrow. They expressed an interest along with Harrogate and Stalybridge, but I am happy to be back at Stanley and now it's my aim to get back in the starting 11.

"Scoring goals is all well and good, but it's keeping clean sheets I am more concerned with. That's what will get us going again and, if selected, I know I can slot in there and do a good job."
