The wife of a man killed by a former mistress has forgiven him for the affair.

Mohammed Nadeem died when Kelly Hyslop picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed him at a house in Commercial Road, Great Harwood, in February.

Hyslop, from Huncoat, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and will be sentenced in November after psychiatric reports.

The family are angry though at the verdict. Preston Crown Court was told Mr Nadeem, 28, of Steiner Street, Accrington, was abusive and violent to his girlfriend. But his family said he was a calm man who loved his children.

His wife Shaista, 26, has forgiven him for his infidelity after he confessed he had been seeing Kelly, and promised he would never leave her.

The couple had two children - Haddiqa, four, and 18-month-old Anisa - with Shaista expecting their third child at the time of his death. She gave birth three months ago to Saira.

His sister, Gulshan Bibi, 32, said: "He just confessed. He told her everything, she started crying and he said he would never leave her."

Mr Nadeem had been seeing Kelly Hyslop, 20, for a number of years before the couple split. But the pair are believed to have had a fight at a house on Commercial Road, Great Harwood, and he was found dead by the police.

Gulshan said: "He was helping me out all the time, and his parents and his wife. He adored his children."

The family are angry that the youngsters will grow up without their father.

His sister, Gulshan Bibi said: "We are happy that she has admitted it but we are not happy with manslaughter.

"We would rather have seen her tried for murder.

"She will just come out and get on with her life but we can't. We won't be able to forget.

"His eldest daughter is always thinking of him, even in her sleep. They miss him and she keeps calling for him all the time, even in her sleep."
