I READ with interest Mr Lawes' letter regarding Clean Start (LET, October 7).
Mr Lawes maybe one of those who turn a blind eye to people fly-tipping and littering and just expect the council to clean it up.
Where does it all end? Should we continue to let a minority spoil our town and streets by just throwing their rubbish anywhere they please?
I believe that unlike Mr Lawes the majority of residents in Blackburn and Darwen feel that the people who do fly-tip and little our streets should be prosecuted and not just allowed to get away with it because the council will clean it up.
It's just a pity that people don't take pride in where they live any more.
It may well be that these problems are self-inflicted, but I myself commend the council and all the departments concerned who are trying to solve these problems.
As always you cannot please everybody, but that was the case when you yourself worked in the cleansing department Mr Lawes.
