A TALE of Northern life is presented in the PADOS production of Hindle Wakes.
The play is set in 1912, in the Northern town of Hindle and it is Wakes Week. Lively mill girl Fanny Hawthorn tells her parents she has spent the weekend in Blackpool with her friend, Mary Hollins.
But in truth, she has been in Wales with Alan Jeffcote, the wealthy mill-owner's son.
When Fanny's parents find out, they are determined that Alan should marry her -- but Alan, his family and Fanny herself all have their own ideas on the matter. Hindle Wakes is the first play of the season for PADOS and will be shown at PADOS House, in St Mary's Road, Prestwich from Saturday, October 23 to Saturday, October 30.
