POLICE in Burnley have secured Anti Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) on two youths from the Trinity area of the town.

Seventeen-year-old Mark Roberts was given an ASBO at Burnley Magistrates Court on Tuesday lasting until October 11, 2006.

The order will stop him from:

Using insulting, threatening, abusive or disorderly words or behaviour in any public place, or instructing, encouraging or inciting any other person to do so.

Drinking alcohol or being in possession of alcohol or being drunk in any public place.

Throwing any stone or missile or engaging in any anti-social behaviour to the annoyance, disruption or upset of residents or passers-by, or instructing, encouraging or inciting any other person to do so.

Associating with certain named individuals.

Entering Scott Park, Burnley.

Twelve year-old Alfie Dunston was also made the subject of an Interim ASBO until February 11 next year. This will prohibit him from:

Using insulting, threatening, abusive or disorderly words or behaviour in any public place

Throwing any stone or missile or engaging in any anti-social behaviour to the annoyance, disruption or upset of residents or passers-by.

Associating with certain named individuals

Being outside his home address between the hours of 10pm and 6am.

Community Beat Manager for Trinity PC Adam Gordon said: "Burnley is leading the way when it comes to using Anti-Social Behaviour Orders. To-date we have secured over 30 orders across the borough, more than many areas up and down the country.

"We know from public feedback that this positive police action has gone a long way towards tackling people's concerns and helping to prevent the type of nuisance and minor disorder which can really blight people's lives." He added: "This good work will continue."
