A BURNLEY supermarket worker is hoping to swap walking down the aisles for strutting her stuff on the catwalk after landing a place in the finals of a national modelling contest.

Jayne Harris, 27, is hoping to take the modelling world by storm and follow in the footsteps of glamour girls Victoria Silvstedt and Jordan when she takes to the stage in the Max Power Bikini Babe contest.

Jayne, a shop assistant at Burnley's Tesco, will be competing against 21-year-old Tina Brophy, from Chorley, on November 27 and 28 at London's ExCeL centre.

They will be alongside 40 other girls short-listed for the annual event.

Jayne, who lives in Harger Street, Burnley, with her two children Sasha, eight, and Max, five, and fiance Martin, said: "The whole family thinks it's great. They are all behind me 100 per cent.

"I am really excited about being picked for the finals.

"I'd love to follow in the footsteps of someone like Lucy Pinder or Jordan. I think they're fantastic models who do a great job.

"I have had my picture taken with Jordan and would love to model professionally."

Jayne, who keeps fit by cheerleading with her personal trainer, Michelle Williamson, is hoping she's got what it takes to beat off the country's competition.

In 2003 the competition launched the modelling career of Maddi Ford and Jakki Degg also shot to stardom in 1999 after winning the contest.

The former hairdresser went on to become Britain's favourite Page 3 girl as voted by The Sun, appearing regularly in the national newspapers as well as establishing herself as a columnist and much-loved pin-up in Max Power Magazine.

This year's Max Bikini Babe winner will go on to enjoy a professional photoshoot with a top London photographer, a cover shoot for Max Power Magazine, a contract with International model agency IMM and a £1,000 prize.
