CHORLEY are still seeking their first away point after being given a lesson in counter-punching by Colwyn Bay, who hit the Magpies three times on the break.
John Hughes fielded his two new signings, Daniel Douglas-Pringle and John Borland, and both showed that they will be very useful acquisitions.
Luke Horrocks and Ian Callaghan both went close before Colwyn Bay goalkeeper Matthew Parry saved well from Neil Smith and Paul Carvill.
But they were made to pay for missed chances as the home side took the lead through a Calvin Davies header on 39 minutes.
Stuart White added a second on 54 minutes before Chorley pulled a goal back through substitute Andy Haworth's header.
But Parry's quick clearance led to Bay's third as James McIlvogue beat Gillies with a 25-yard strike, then he wrapped the game up with his second.
