NEXT October we will witness the 200th anniversary of Horatio Nelson's greatest triumph; the Battle of Trafalgar.

As a fellow Norfolkman, I am looking forward to celebrating it. When I was a boy we used to get a day off school.

Alas, political correctness does its best to denigrate anything that this great country has done, and Totnes Council in Devon has banned celebrations in case it might offend the French.

Bunkum! Every July 4 the USA celebrates its victory over us and I do not feel in the least offended. It is entitled to be proud of its victory, as are we with ours.

They will be changing the name of Waterloo Station next!
