A CHILD of the Year competition held in the Ribble Valley had to be cancelled after organisers received no entries.
Organisers of the youth award scheme, Whalley and District Lions, threw in the towel after the disappointing response.
The group said it was "very sad", especially since the winner of the competition had gone on to win the national final two years earlier.
