The Preston camp has one man who knows all about Cup upsets and has helped orchestrate many over the years, with another on his agenda tonight.

Assistant manager David Kelly was an important part of the Tranmere Rovers side who made it to the final of the League Cup back in 2000 and was on the scoresheet at Wembley.

The route to the final saw Kelly score seven goals, including a hat trick in a 5-1 win over Coventry, who were then in the Premier League. Rovers also made it to the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup the same season, which saw them eventually beat four Premier League sides.

Everton may be currently third in the Premiership, just three points behind Arsenal but this is the Cup and to use the old clich anything can happen.

Local rivals Burnley were 27 places behind Aston Villa, but managed to secure a 3-1 win last night, so a win for North End is not beyond reach.

Although with the game taking place at Goodison the task will be that little bit harder with Preston without a league away win all season.

But both of the wins in this competition have come away from home, with wins at Mansfield and Leicester so tonight could be a hat trick:

"We'll try and put in a good performance and give a good account." said Davies.

"It is a good stage and this is what football is all about. I have told the players these memories are the ones you take away with you when you retire.

"All we can do is go along and enjoy the occasion."
