David Moyes faces an emotional match, as his Everton side look to avoid a potential banana skin at Goodison Park.

Things have been going surprisingly well for the former Preston Boss and his new side, who currently sit third in the FA Barclaycard Premiership, but tonight anything can happen.

Burnley are so far this season's giantkillers after last night's impressive 3-1 win over Aston Villa, at Turf Moor, but surely a win for Billy Davies' side would be deemed a bigger scalp.

Moyes left Preston in March 2002, the lure of Everton to great but it's a time he will always remember fondly:

"I look back on my time at Preston with great affection," he said. "They gave me a great start to my management career and I will always be grateful for that.

"They have good players, they have added a few more since I was there and all round they are a decent team.

"I still look for their results and I hope they do well and the players they have there do well, but I am focused now on making sure Everton win this one.

"We want to do well. It'd be great to win it and get into Europe. Teams now think this cup's more important than they did before."

The game will also be a chance for Moyes to catch up with old pal Davies, who he's known since the two were youngsters up in Scotland.

The two competed against each other firstly as Davies signed for Rangers and he Celtic. Two very different careers followed before the duo ended up playing at Dunfermline together and even travelled together:

"We used to share a car to get to training and spent a lot of time talking tactics."

"We will have a glass of wine together afterwards but for the match he will be wanting to pull off a shock result and I will want to make sure Everton get into the next round."
