IF Daniel Southward was a drink he says he would be a bottle of Budweiser.

Because advertisers claim Budweiser is the King of Beers and Daniel thinks he's King of the bar.

And the 20-year-old, who has worked at the King Street Pub Co, Accrington for the last year, compares himself to EastEnders' cheeky barman Alfie Moon when asked which celebrity barman he is most like.

And though Daniel, who is 21, next month, has only been doing bar work for a year, he is trying hard to learn the skills that might make him like Tom Cruise in the hit film Cocktail.

He added: "I don't have many tricks at the moment. My next big challenge is to learn how to put a clover into the top of a pint of Guinness."

Residents will have their say

A HUGE consultation exercise on proposed changes to licensing laws has been launched in East Lancashire.

The East Lancashire e-Partnership wants to hear the views of residents on the proposed overhaul of British licensing.

The Licensing Act, which comes into force in February, will modernise legislation governing the sale and supply of alcohol, and place sole responsibility for licensing on local councils.

Lorna Dobson, East Lancashire e-Partnership programme manager, said: "This is an ideal opportunity for residents to tell their local councils what they think should be in the licensing policy before the policies are established and implemented."

An online questionnaire is available at www.elep.org.uk/licensing/ or paper copies are available from local councils.
