JOHN Coleman believes a lack of concentration for the full 90 minutes cost Accrington Stanley a place in the LDV Vans Trophy Northern Section quarter-final.

Stanley were knocked out of a domestic cup competition for the second time in a week after they leaked two late goals at Oldham Athletic.

And manager Coleman was disappointed that they couldn't hold out for the full game against the Coca Cola League One side, who were reduced to 10 men just before the break.

"For 70 minutes we were magnificent," he said.

"Maybe we put too much into the first 70 because we went asleep and backed off a little bit. We let them back into the game and they scored with their only two shots on goal in the second half.

"It's sickening."

He added: "You try to pick the players up because there were some outstanding performances. The two centre halves were magnificent, Steve Flitcroft was magnificent and for an hour Lee McEvilly was a constant threat.

"It's hard to have a go at them but you've got to be mentally tougher than what we've been.

"We've allowed them to come into a game with 10 men when they couldn't live with us with 11."

"It doesn't matter who you're playing against, when you're 11 versus 10 and you've got a lot of the ball, why back off them and invite them into the game?

"It's frustrating because a couple of individual players have gone to sleep and cost us goals. That's hard to bear when so many lads have worked really hard to go and win a game."
