RE the "£300,000 top team" (LET, October 30). Is it not beyond one's comprehension that Labour councillors can act so naively?

Here they are paying out mammoth salaries. Far above the norm for other successful headteachers, for a project with no guaranteed success.

This is typical of New Labour's belief -- spend big enough and the cure will follow. But in the end does it?

What with these sort of attitudes is it no wonder that the town is near the top of the league for teacher shortages?

This course of action will cause unrest amongst other teachers no doubt.

Moreover is the government going to pay or will it be the downtrodden council tax payer or the worst scenario of all will be the children who suffer because this money is taken out of education allocation already made.
