IAN MOORE and Graham Branch have handed Burnley a double injury boost ahead of this weekend's trip to Brighton.

The Clarets duo both came through a 45-minute reserve team run-out unscathed against Stockport County's second string last night.

And with fitness worries still hanging over several other first teamers, manager Steve Cotterill will be delighted to have two of his most experienced campaigners pressing for recalls at the Withdean Stadium.

Reserve team boss Mark Yates said: "It was always the plan to bring both players off at half-time and it was a good night's work.

"Graham has been nursing a calf injury and also had an illness, so it was good for him to get 45 minutes in.

"The physio thought that 45 minutes would also benefit Ian fitness-wise and he looked sharp, had a couple of chances and made some great runs."

Moore has missed six games since undergoing knee surgery on a patella problem in late October that was originally set to rule him out for two months.

However, after making a surprise return to first team action as a substitute against Nottingham Forest last weekend, the £1m striker will now be hoping to resume striking duties in the starting line-up at Brighton.

Meanwhile, Clarets loan signing Gary Cahill has been reflecting on a whirlwind week since arriving from Aston Villa.

The 18-year-old England youth international made his full senior debut against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carling Cup, where he faced fearsome strike duo Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane.

Cahill then helped the Clarets earn their first clean sheet in nine games in the welcome weekend league win over Nottingham Forest at Turf Moor.

And Cahill admitted: "It's definitely been an interesting week. I went in for training at Villa on the Monday and got told by my gaffer that I was coming to Burnley.

"I was more than happy to be honest because it was an opportunity I just couldn't turn down.

"It is a learning curve for me and every time I play it's going to mean more learning, but I'm looking forward to it and I can't wait to step back on the pitch once again."

Burnley supporters travelling to Brighton on Saturday are being urged to wear red in support of Wrexham FC.

The Welsh League One side are in serious danger of folding after crippling financial problems that have forced them to apply for administration.

Saturday, November 20 has been unofficially designated 'Wear Red for Wrexham Day' as fans everywhere look to put on a striking show of support for the Racecourse Ground side.
