HARNESSING his expertise in human resources to help a new breed of businesses is Bury man Brian Little.

The 50-year-old has launched his own company after working within industry for the past 30 years. Now, he aims to pass on his experience to assist small and medium-sized companies achieve best practice when it comes to employer relations.

Earlier this year Brian, of Blackford Bridge, turned his back on his previous job to establish his own company, Human Resource Management Ltd.

He said: "I started my business in June after nearly 30 years in human resource management. I worked for two what used to be called 'blue chip' companies and also spent time in employment law consultancy mainly dealing with the employee relations and legal problems of small to medum-sized businesses."

Before going it alone, Brian had been a divisional human resource manager for a company attached to a national concrete-related group. But when a divisional re-structure was planned, he decided to leave and to establish his own consultancy.

"I thought it was a good time to do what I wanted. I feel I have got the experience that will allow me to work with small and medium-sized businesses and help them develop their employee relations climate. Really, what I'm trying to do is to spread the message."

Meanwhile, Brian is carrying out some part-time lecturing in employment relations at Huddersfield University while also working part-time for a company he was previously employed by.

He is also offering companies in the Bury area a day's free consultancy if they can answer three simple posers he has set. Bury firms wishing to take advantage of the offer should e-mail Brian at brianlittle@hrmltd.com
