A MAN who went berserk when he was ordered to leave a Blackburn pub has been jailed for four months.

Blackburn magistrates heard Paul Donlin caused more than £1,000 in damage in the crowded Postal Order, Darwen Street, when he threw chairs and ash trays and upset tables.

And the court was told that due to the incident Donlin had now been barred from every pub in the town centre under the Bar-U scheme.

Donlin, 22, of Newton Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to damaging property worth £1,074 belonging to J D Wetherspoons and stealing a wallet and its contents. He was jailed for two months on each charge to run consecutively.

John Wood, prosecuting, said Donlin, who was drunk, had talked to a group in the Last Orders pub before suddenly grabbing the wallet off a table and fleeing.

The incident in the Postal Order - while Donlin was on bail - happened after the defendant and another man went in with a can of Stella Artois. The manager told them to leave but Donlin replied: "You will have to make me. I'm going to rip your head off."

He added: "I'm Paul Donlin, I run this town and I'm not going back to jail for anyone."

He then began to throw tables, smashing a light with one and a gaming machine with another. He overturned several tables as he made his way to the door.
