YOURI Djorkaeff's future at Blackburn Rovers was today shrouded in mystery after it emerged that French minnows Entente Sannois Saint-Gratien are keen on signing him.

Djorkaeff's contract with Rovers runs out at the end of the month and SSG are reportedly ready to launch an audacious bid to lure him back to his native France.

SSG's major shareholder Luc Dayan is already thought to have approached the 36-year-old with a lucrative offer to play for the National League side.

SSG currently lie mid-table in the French National League - which is the third tier of football in France.

But Djorkaeff may be tempted by the prospect of finishing his career in his homeland, where he last played domestic football eight years ago.

Djorkaeff has endured a frustrating couple of months at Rovers since becoming Mark Hughes' first signing for the club on a free.

The former Bolton player made a lively start to his Blackburn career but a bout of sickness and a hamstring injury have restricted his appearances, so much so that his last start came against Chelsea in October.

Nevertheless, the Frenchman could still have a key role to play in Rovers' survival bid, particular after Saturday's performance against Tottenham when Hughes bemoaned his side's lack of invention and guile.

Rovers will hold talks with the player over his future later this month but in the meantime Djorkaeff is free to speak to whoever he likes and he may be tempted by the guarantee of regular first team football elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Rovers midfielder Steven Reid has pleaded guilty to an FA charge relating to an incident involving Jesper Gronkjaer in last month's game with Birmingham.

Reid had until yesterday to respond to the charges but although he has pleaded guilty, the club have requested a personal hearing, the date of which has yet to be determined.

Elsewhere, Rovers striker Matt Jansen is said to be making excellent progress in his recovery from a cartilage operation.

The 27-year-old striker is expected to return to action in three weeks' time.
