WHILE Santa was making his festive drop-offs, nurses in Burnley were making four special deliveries for themselves.

And for the lucky parents, it was the best Christmas present they could have asked for, despite the fact that they weren't expected on the big day.

Proud parents Razia Nasir, 30, and husband Nasir Wahid, 35 of Livingstone Walk, Brierfield, say they were delighted when their new baby boy was born on Christmas Day.

Razia said: "Everybody was shocked because I didn't even know I was pregnant until quite late on. I came into hospital for low blood pressure and discovered then that I was pregnant.

"The funny thing is that my little boy had wished for a baby from Santa Claus for Christmas. He will have a shock when he comes to hospital and realises that Santa made his wish come true."

The baby is the greatest Christmas gift we could all have wished for and it was made even more perfect when I looked out of the window and noticed all the snow."

All the new parents, who stayed overnight at the hospital's Davidson ward, were treated to a traditional Christmas dinner.

Parents Michelle Martin, 23, and husband Billy, of Wood Street, Hapton, had been expecting their first bundle of joy to arrive on New Year's Eve.

But Michelle said baby Holly would make for "double the Christmas celebrations" after she was born weighing, 5lb14oz, at 1.55am.

Michelle said: "My mum was glad that Holly was born early because they like to go out on New Year's Eve, so that was one plus point to Holly being born on Christmas Day."

Lisa Petrie, 21, and partner Vinny McGibbon, 24, of Mitella Street, Burnley, had a baby boy, Noah, at 5.30am on Christmas Day. The baby weighed 6lb 12oz and is the couple's first child.

Lisa, a beautician at Beauty Zone, Pike Hill, said: "We are postponing our Christmas Day until Boxing Day as there will be a lot of proud relatives coming to see him.

"He was due on December 27 but being born on Christmas day makes him extra special. I'm hoping for some good Christmas presents after all this work."
