New year push for volunteers

VOLUNTEERS are being urged to make a positive resolution for 2005 - by helping out in their local charity shop.

There are currently vacancies at Sue Ryder care branches in Castlegate, Clitheroe; Rainhill Road, Barnoldswick; Cleveland Street, Chorley, and Deardengate, Haslingden.

The funds raised by Sue Ryder Care helps to support the specialised work of the charity's 17 care centres.

The centres provide specialist hospice and neurological care services for people with a wide range of conditions.

Local area manager for Lancashire and Merseyside, Mary Everton, said: "Every new year people focus on trying to give-up a bad habit, but this year we want people to make a positive resolution and become a Sue Ryder Care volunteer."
