SMOKEY the cat was the toast of Darwen by waking a family when their house set on fire.
Smokey stayed calm as flames built up downstairs in the property in Everton Street and leaped onto the bed of 14 year-old Heath Holiday and sank in his claws.
The family of five and two friends were able to escape from the property but Smokey had to be rescued by firemen after hiding in a downstairs room.
