A FORMER Bury Grammar School pupil is delving into the dark secrets behind some of the most notorious murders in the region with his new book, Lancashire Murders.
Retired bank manager Alan Hayhurst's passion for crime began when he was just 12-years-old and since then he has amassed more than 1,000 books surrounding the topic as well as becoming a renowned speaker on the subject.
Cases documented in Lancashire Murders include the"body in the wardrobe" in Bury during Victorian times and Lancaster GP Dr Buck Ruxton who murdered his wife and maid in 1935.
Mr Hayhurst, who was born in Bury but now lives in Timperley, has included police interviews, trial transcripts and newspaper reports in his research to rebuild each story from scratch.
