RESIDENTS in Holcombe Brook can watch a young oak tree flourish thanks to the Ramsbottom, Tottington and North Manor Area Board.
The board presented the tree, which has been planted on the grassed area in Oak Avenue through the area board's own budget, after an idea from the chairman, Councillor Dorothy Gunther.
She said: "A beautiful old oak tree had to be cut down when a new development went up a few years ago. The builders did replace it but, unfortunately, it died.
"I felt it would be a good idea to provide a more mature tree from this budget and, after consulting with the residents, it was evident that the gesture would be very much appreciated. Hopefully this one will survive and be enjoyed by the residents for many years to come."
