PRESTWICH area board will kick off the New Year with a presentation on the topical Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs).

Following requests from members of the public, the area board has asked Vinny Jones from Greater Manchester Police to give a talk on how the ASBOs work in the fight against crime within the Prestwich and Bury area.

An ASBO can be sought by the police and local authority to help curb someone's anti-social behaviour over the age of ten. Restrictions are placed on the individual or group and if those restrictions are broken the person involved can be arrested and brought back before the courts.

Also on the agenda will be an update on youth services, a programme of refurbishment for roads and pavements in Prestwich and a report on a local safety scheme for St Anns Road.

Members of the board will be asked to choose the roads most needing repair from a list drawn up by Bury Councils highways department.

They will also be asked to support a series of measure for St Anns Road which are intended to reduce the number of accidents on the road.

Members of the public will also be able to have their say on a variety of issues in the open forum session, which lasts for 45 minutes.

The area board meeting will be held at Butterstile Primary School, in School Grove, Prestwich on Tuesday, January 11 at 7pm.
