A WHITE Christmas looks good but It is not condusive to safe road cycling so Boxing Day's club run cancelled itself as no-one turned out.
However, as the sun warmed things up a short afternoon ride was enjoyed by a few members.
North of Bury it was noted that no gritting had been done and crossing into Edenfield grit had been spread across the now clear roads.
On this evidence Bury road users should vote for a takeover by Rossendale Council!
Members passed through Rawtenstall and Helmshore, passing the textile museum and then climbed across the moors to Holcombe.
Sticking to main roads brought us through Hawkshaw and Bradshaw and a climb to Harwood and Ainsworth before a cold descent back to Bury.
One member extended the ride and managed to clock a creditable 40 miles despite the conditions.
