TWO Balearic legends are set to take Burnley by storm tonight as clubbers in the town are handed a great choice of events for New Year's Eve.

Club XS in Hammerton Street, Burnley, has secured the services of Ibiza legends Agnelli & Nelson tonight for an event which will run through until 6am.

The pair -- Chris Agnelli and Robbie Nelson -- have been writing and producing dance music together since 1997 and are best known for their massive anthems El Nino and Everyday.

Five Top 30 hits have ensured they remain synonymous with the more musical end of club music.

The jet-setting duo regularly play across the globe and come to XS thanks to the fact the club's bosses have secured the Slinky Trans-Atlantik tour for the night.

Slinky, as a club name, is right up there with the Gatecrashers and God's Kitchens of the club scene, and calls Bournemouth home.

One of its regulars, Dave Lea, is also on the bill. He's got a decade of experience behind the decks, and boasts a solid, deeper style of mixing.

Like Agnelli & Nelson, he has played across the globe and, in his own words, is a "Tough, Techno-y, energetic" DJ.

Of his 7,000 records, he reckons Age of Love by Age of Love is the track he'll drop to get the crowd going.

Also on the decks for the night will be XS regulars Mick Clarke and Wes Hutchinson.

Tickets for tonight cost £12 on the door. The dresscode is smart, with no sportswear. Tickets in advance can be bought for £10 from Astonishing Sounds in Burnley.

Just up the road at Lava-Ignite, a Black and White Ball is being held to see in 2005.

Mark Freejack will be in the main room playing what he promises will be an up-for-it selection of big dance anthems.

Matt Tinker will be doing the more sophisticated stuff in the Terrace Bar downstairs, while Dave DD brings on the cheese in Lava.

Their night runs until 4am and admission is £10.

All in all, it's been a pretty busy year in Burnley for clubbers, what with a string of big-name DJs and PAs appearing throughout the year. Then there has been the success of new nights coming on, which will hopefully continue to grow throughout next year.

And, of course, 2004 saw Retro return to its spiritual home, Burnley, after nearly a decade away.
