A DARWEN author is delighted after receiving inquiries about his book from across the country, following an article in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

Kenneth Kershaw, 76, of Avondale Road, has already sold more than 100 paperbacks and 25 hardback versions of his book, 'The History of St Cuthbert's Church, Darwen', in the last month.

And people have contacted him from around the country including Huddersfield, Warrington and Worcestershire after seeing the newspaper article about him.

He is now hopeful he will be able to sell the rest of his 175 books and has ordered a further ten hardback copies due to extra demand.

He has also vowed to give proceeds from the sales to St Cuthbert's Church towards its £300,000 renovation bill.

Mr Kershaw said: "I've done very well so far and was inundated after I was in the newspaper, which is brilliant. So many people from all over have seen the article."

A section of the book tells the tales of the riots outside St Cuthbert's in 1928 which took place because parishioners believed the Protestant church was becoming too similar to the Roman Catholic churches.

Anyone wanting to buy a copy of the book should contact Ken on 01254 708875.
