SHAKERS 0, OXFORD UNITED 0: Shakers ended their tormented three-game sequence without a goal but at least they picked up a point from this one-sided clash.

Such was their dominance over the visitors, had it been a boxing match, the referee would have stopped the contest in the first half.

All that was missing was a cutting edge in front of goal, as for once, the large number of talent scouts monitoring the progress of leading scorer Dave Nugent, left Gigg Lane not having seen him hit the target.

To be fair to the 19-year-old, he put in his usual hardworking shift and always looked a threat with his ability to run at defences.

But in the last third of the field there was little else to whet the appetite despite some fine approach play from Bury.

At the heart of almost every flowing move they put together was Canadian international Terry Dunfield who was restored to the team after excelling from the substitutes bench at Lincoln on Saturday.

"Terry has probably made me look an absolute idiot for not picking him before," grinned Barrow.

"That was the Terry Dunfield that came to us on loan from Manchester City, I've told him to keep that head on for the next six months.

"He was probably the best midfielder in our division on that performance.

"He's a lovely lad and I have a great relationship with him and I think it's helped with his mother and father coming over from Canada to see him.

"I don't expect him to be as dominant as that all the time but there was discipline to his game today."
