JUVENILES across Lancashire are to face on-the-spot fines for anti-social behaviour - and their parents must ensure they pay.
The ultimate deterrent could be jail for mums or dads who do not make youngsters toe the line.
The move comes as part of a crackdown on ten to 15-year-olds who could now be fined up to £40 instantly under new police powers.
Lancashire is one of seven forces taking part in the year-long pilot designed to target young thugs - with fixed penalty notices covering under-age drinking, vandalism, and harassment.
Police spokesman Inspector John Clucas says: "We are pleased to be included in the pilot and want to build on the success of Penalty Notices for Disorder (PNDs) being used in Lancashire as an efficient way to deal with some offenders."
