GETTING aboard his job as new human resources manager for bus company First is Bob Townend (pictured), who will be responsible for personnel and training operations in Manchester.
A graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, he brings to First a wealth of expertise in human resources management. Previously, he occupied a successful position as human resource manager at F Bender Ltd, a national print company. Prior to this, Bob enjoyed a dynamic 14-year career with BICC Cables plc.
In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing all human resources issues, including staff recruitment and development, the operation of First's training and development centre in Bolton and personnel management.
Bob commented: "I am delighted to join First at an important phase in the company's development and look forward to tackling the challenges of my new role."
