BRIAN Crouch, British Telecom's regional director for the north west, has been appointed chairman of the North West Business Club and a member of the North West CBI Regional Council.

He said: "Technology has a key role to play in building the future prosperity of the north west and I hope the experience I can bring from BT will prove invaluable. It's my job to ensure the Business Club goes from strength to strength and that our work supports businesses throughout the region."

He said the forthcoming priorities of the Business Club were to continue to connect business across the north west and to assist its members in identifying and contacting suppliers and buyers both within the region and overseas. The Business Club will encourage organisations to take further advantage of its website as an online commercial platform offering supply chain, technology transfer and further business opportunities in a dedicated service.

And the organisation will also be exploring opportunities for the website as a platform for small and medium-sized companies to focus on online learning. The club will continue to offer networking opportunities at high profile events in the region, including the 2005 UEFA Women's European football championship and the 2006 Manchester International Festival.
