REGARDING your item in the LET of January 7 about recycling and "jobsworth officials." I can understand the feeling of Mr Smith as I can understand the sentiments of the Director of Direct Services, when he states that the boxes should be placed at the end of the driveway.
What I cannot agree with is the statement that to travel the extra distance would cause the service to over-run.
I place my bins at the end of my driveway, but to save the operative time he leaves my bin at the end of the next door neighbours drive.
This happens every week and I can assure you that I am not the only person this happens to.
The time saved by this happening far outweighs the odd occasion when someone does not leave it at the end of his drive.
