PLANS to build ten new houses on land off Gorple Street in Brierfield have been refused.
Pendle Council's Brierfield and Reedley Committee said the development would look out of place.
But the applicant's spokesman, Alan Pinder, told the committee at a meeting on Tuesday that he would appeal.
Mr Pinder, a chartered town planner, pointed out that government policies state that planning applications should not be refused because of design issues.
He said the three-storey dwellings would not be out of character for the area, adding: "I would respectfully ask members to consider supporting this scheme and avoid costly delays through following this up through the appeal process."
Nearby residents had sent in five letters of objection and planning officers had also recommended refusal.
