MARKET traders in Nelson are asking customers to buy raffle tickets to support victims of the tsunami disaster.

Admiral's Market Place stores have donated prizes including a Bee Gees box set from Music Box, £30 worth of cards from Best Wishes, a man's jacket from David Dean and a dressing gown from Star Stalls.

Shoppers are also being asked to donate any unwanted Christmas gifts which could be auctioned off to raise more money for the appeal.

Manager of the Admiral's Market Place Iain Wharton said: "The donations from the stalls are excellent and typical of the kind-hearted traders we have here.

"I hope that we can also auction some shoppers unwanted presents, as what is useless or unwanted by you could be lifesaving for someone else."

Coun Allan Buck, Pendle Council's Executive Member for Regeneration, said: "I encourage the shoppers of Pendle to really support this worthwhile raffle.

"We need to sell all the tickets to raise loads of money, the proceeds of which will be used to bring much needed comfort to the unfortunate victims of this tragedy."

Raffle tickets are available from all of the market stalls and cost £1. The draw will take place in the near future.
