A DOZEN roads in Radcliffe will be given a facelift as part of Bury Council's highways refurbishment programme.

Last summer, all adopted highways in Radcliffe were assessed by the local authority through an external contractor, and the worst sections were added to a list for discussion.

Suggestions from the council's own inspectors and the public were also put forward and a list of schemes was selected.

The roads picked for repair work were: Scott Street, Thompson Avenue, Winston Close, East Street, Betley Street, Outwood Road, Holborn Avenue, Chaucer Avenue, Thorp Avenue, Croft Lane, Keats Crescent and Robert Street.

Each area chosen will have limits set on the work to be done, on the budget allocation to Radcliffe for 2005/2006. The council hopes to have all the work completed within the financial year.
