SKATERS in Radcliffe can jump for joy after being awarded £5,000 to boost their facilities.
The money was awarded to Radcliffe skate park from the office of the Deputy Prime Minister to help create cleaner, safer and greener neighbourhoods through the Governments Living Spaces scheme.
New ramps have been added after skaters decided they would like more equipment to use on the site.
The group formed in the summer of 1997 and skaters from across the town started to campaign and raise funds for a skatepark.
After raising some £200,000, and with land donated by Bury Council, the Radcliffe Community Skatepark was opened in December 2002 and members of the group continue to tidy and maintain the skate park, and raise funds to help develop the site.
The park is in Hutchinson Way, is free to use, and is floodlit every night until 10pm.
