RADCLIFFE is preparing for a ruby celebration this year as it marks 40 years of the town's carnival.
The weekend of June 4 and June 5 will be the date for the annual extravaganza on Red Bank playing fields.
At a meeting of the Radcliffe Area Board, carnival committee member Ray Vevers said: "We're celebrating our 40 years, so it would be great if we could get all the town down to make it special."
Entry forms are already available for the parade, and prizes will be awarded in a number of classes, including best fancy dress, best carnival queen decorated car and best local float.
The carnival car rally has also been planned, which was reintroduced to the programme four years ago. The event is open to all pre-1975 vehicles, but others might be accepted by arrangement with the organisers.
Festivities include displays, stalls, arena events and the usual funfair. Entry forms can be obtained and returned to Mr S Darcy on 797 4475.
