A 14-YEAR-OLD girl has been charged with supplying ecstasy after six girls were found under the influence of drugs at a Blackburn high school.

The teenagers were rushed to hospital from Witton Park High School Business and Enterprise College, Buncer Lane, on December 14.

The girls, aged 14 and 15, spent 24 hours under observation after complaining of feeling ill.

Staff at the school called police, who seized ecstasy tablets and arrested two 14-year-old pupils. One was released without charge while the other was bailed during forensic tests.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, answered bail at Blackburn police station yesterday and was charged with six counts of supplying ecstasy.

All eight girls involved were suspended from school after the incident. Seven returned to class this year after missing lessons for about a week. The girl charged with drug dealing will stay suspended until the result of any criminal action.

A police spokesman said: "Two 14-year-old girls were arrested. One was released with no further action and the other was released on police bail. Following a thorough police investigation she was charged with six counts of supplying ecstasy."

A Blackburn with Darwen Council spokesman declined to comment.

The girl has been bailed and will appear at Blackburn Youth Court on January 25.
