THE south-east Asian tsunami disaster has evoked an overwhelming response from the British public and we would like to thank readers who have given so generously.
CAF (Charities Aid Foundation) is helping to ensure that funds get to organisations working on the ground by supporting the Disasters Emergency Committees public appeal to provide clean water, food and shelter to thousands of earthquake victims.
CAF is uniquely placed to ensure that aid agencies receive the maximum funding by promoting tax-efficient giving through Gift Aid and personal Charity Accounts, boosting most donations by an average of 28p in the pound.
CAF Charity Account holders can quickly have their gift transferred to the DEC, or any specific charity providing aid in the area.
New givers can have a Charity Account set up in their name, enabling CAF to claim back tax paid on the donation from the Treasury, and ensuring the maximum amount possible goes to help the people of south-east Asia.
