MUCH more than just a glass was raised in memory of a popular Tottington landlady who lost her battle with cancer last year.

Regulars at the village's Old Dungeon Pub have raised more than £4,000 for Christie's against Cancer to celebrate the life of Nora Mack, who died of lung cancer aged 63 last February. She was treated at Christie Hospital.

Nora had been landlady of the Old Dungeon for seven years. Her daughter Sandie McGrath has now taken up the running of the pub.

She said: "At first I was grieving so I wasn't keen, but the regulars thought it would be a good idea and I realised it would be a good opportunity to do something for Christie's to thank them for everything they did for us.

"Fortunately we've had the support of the whole community because my mum was so well known and thanks to a party in August and other events weve managed to raise just over £4,000. We're very grateful to everyone involved."
