Sedgley put their Christmas and New Year celebrations behind them and worked off a few pounds with a good overall performance.
Chris Entwistle set the ball rolling with an early try and an aggressive Tarleton side failed to make much progress against a good SP defence.
ZacFarber scored the second try before Tarleton took advantage of a missed tackle to score a converted try themselves.
Sedgley, showing good discipline, scored further tries through James Whittle (2) and David Smith, plus a couple of Simon Hetherington conversions, to lead 29-7 at half-time.
The home side made a good start to the second half, scoring another converted try, but Whittle completed his hat-trick before being substituted following a bump on the head.
Sedgley were under pressure for a period, but came through with some fantastic defence, and Ryan Cullen - prop turned flanker - showed his agility and stamina with two more tries.
