A CHARITABLE clearout at home has left Jackie Billett desperately searching for her wedding ring.

Mrs Billett, of Gleneagles Way, Ramsbottom, removed her ring before Christmas because her finger was sore, and placed it in the pocket of a suit jacket for safe keeping.

But during a new year clean-out, she packed up some of her old clothes and took them down to the Age Concern shop, on Bridge Street, forgetting that the wedding ring she has had for ten years was in one of the pockets.

Mrs Billett said: "The pockets were stitched up on the jacket, but there was a small gap in the stitching on one side. I slid the ring in there so it would be safe and it was only after I had taken the bags of clothes to the charity shop that I remembered where the ring was."

Assistants at the shop have gone through more than 40 bags to try and find Mrs Billett's ring, but to no avail, and now she is hoping that if someone has bought the jacket, they will find the ring and return it to her.

The jacket is light blue and has an Oasis label in it. If anyone finds the ring, which is a twisted, golden band, with 12 diamonds, or knows of its whereabouts they should contact the Age Concern shop on 763 9030.
