A PRESTWICH road which has suffered six traffic accidents in three years is to receive a raft of road safety measures.
St Ann's Road will benefit from two mini roundabouts, new anti-skid surfacing, new warning signs and two priority restriction measures to slow down traffic.
The accidents were recorded over a three-year period from 2000 and 2002 and in two of the incidents speed was a contributory factor.
The measures were approved by members of Prestwich area board on Tuesday evening at Butterstile Primary School after a public consultation exercise revealed the majority of residents were in favour of the scheme.
A total of 150 questionnaires were delivered to homes along St Anns Road and 43 people responded, which represented 29 per cent of the total.
Of the 43 people who responded, 31 people (72 per cent) were supportive of the scheme while 12 people (28 per cent) were against.
While 12 people did not agree with the scheme as it stood, eight of those still thought something should be introduced.
