MOTORISTS in Lancashire listened to police warnings not to drink and drive over Christmas and the New Year - but now bobbies are warning they intend to clamp down on drunks behind the wheel all year.

Nationwide figures showed a breath-test failure rate of 8.75 per cent - but in Lancashire that figure was 3.55 per cent.

The woman in charge of policing Lancashire's roads is pleased but is also warning drivers there will be no let up.

"Our advice to motorists is clear. They should not drink and drive," says Chief Inspector Tracie O'Gara. "Those who do will be caught. There will be further activity over coming months as we continue to target those who drink and drive."
